Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests,

Today, we gather at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to witness the grand opening of the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. This session coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action—an important moment of continuity and profound significance.

At this critical historical juncture, we have specially organized the "Women for Peace: Art and Thought Forum" to promote global gender equality through intellectual exchange and artistic expression, highlighting the unique contributions of women in peace and sustainable development. Distinguished guests and friends,

As a media professional, I deeply understand that media is not only a disseminator of information but also a shaper of social values. In international affairs, the media carries an important mission of fostering understanding and promoting peace. As a woman, I also profoundly recognize the multiple roles women play in society—we are leaders, creators, pillars of families, and drivers of social progress. Each role comes with responsibilities, empowering us to play an irreplaceable role in the pursuit of global gender equality.

In this era filled with challenges and opportunities, we need to hold firm to our beliefs and clarify our direction. Confidence, independence, professionalism, and responsibility are the driving forces that propel us forward. In every field, women should pursue excellence and create value with strong convictions, independent thinking, and broad perspectives.

As a cultural communicator, I understand that the power of culture transcends borders and connects the world. For years, I have been dedicated to promoting the international exchange of Qipao culture, Oriental aesthetics, and multicultural dialogue. I firmly believe that respect and appreciation for different cultures form the foundation of world peace. Only through understanding can we achieve inclusiveness, and only through inclusiveness can we achieve cooperation, ultimately building a more harmonious and beautiful world together.

Furthermore, as a cultural and artistic ambassador for world peace, I feel a deep sense of responsibility. Peace is not just a commitment between nations; it is also an inner pursuit of every individual. Art and culture allow us to see beauty in differences and find resonance in disagreements. They are the softest yet most powerful languages—capable of healing wounds, eliminating barriers, and gathering hope.

Every woman possesses a unique strength. We can be as gentle as water yet as resolute as mountains; we have both emotional sensitivity and rational courage. Whether in families, workplaces, or in cultural and peace initiatives, we can use wisdom, responsibility, and love to influence and change the world.

Looking ahead, I will continue to use the power of media to spread positivity and build bridges of communication through culture. I hope every woman can shine on her own stage and live a unique and wonderful life. More importantly, I look forward to us walking hand in hand to advance global women's causes and contribute our wisdom and strength to world peace!

Thank you all!

The Role of Media as a Bridge: Letting the International Community Hear the Real Voices: Ahmed Fathi pointed out that the growing number of accredited journalists at the UN News Center reflects the high level of international attention to UN affairs and highlights the irreplaceable role of the media in advancing global gender equality. As a leader with a strong reputation, ATN's reports consistently maintain objectivity and impartiality, ensuring that audiences can comprehensively understand the agenda and outcomes of the CSW69 meeting.

In the process of promoting global gender equality and women's empowerment, openness and transparency of information are key. ATN's journalists, through in-depth on-site reporting and dialogues, present the efforts and challenges of different countries in implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. They focus not only on official positions but also on the voices of NGOs, female representatives, and ordinary citizens, striving to provide a diverse and impartial perspective for the international community.

Credibility and Influence: ATN's International Perspective: Under the leadership of Fathi, ATN's news coverage has a wide reach, especially in regions like Hong Kong, which has a high number of English speakers in Asia. Hong Kong's strong demand for international news has enabled ATN to successfully communicate the core issues of the CSW69 meeting to a broader audience, further enhancing global public awareness of gender equality.

The objective and impartial reporting style not only consolidates ATN's position in the international news community but also creates conditions for promoting global cooperation and understanding. Through interviews with female representatives from different countries, ATN explores the challenges they face in political, economic, and social life, helping the audience better understand the complexity and urgency of gender inequality issues.

The Responsibility and Mission of Journalists: Upholding Facts and Fairness  Ahmed Fathi particularly emphasized that the responsibility of UN journalists is not only to disseminate information but also to uphold the fairness and factuality of the news. This sense of responsibility has endowed ATN's reports with strong credibility in the international community. In the face of global issues like CSW69, journalists go deep into the frontlines, ensuring that the resolutions and discussions of the meeting are quickly understood and responded to by the international community through accurate and timely reporting.

The professionalism of journalists and their respect for facts are crucial for ensuring that global audiences objectively understand the efforts made by various countries on gender equality. Fathi noted that only through transparent reporting and impartial analysis can international cooperation and understanding be genuinely promoted, making gender equality not just a slogan but a core of global policies and actions.

The Power of Information in Advancing Gender Equality: The 69th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women is a significant milestone in the cause of gender equality, and media coverage is undoubtedly a powerful force driving this agenda. Through ATN's comprehensive coverage, global audiences will gain a deeper understanding of the outcomes and challenges of CSW69, inspiring broader international attention and action.

Openness and impartiality of information are essential for achieving gender equality. As Ahmed Fathi stated, the mission of journalism is not only to report facts but also to promote a more equitable and inclusive direction for the international community through a fair perspective. The coverage of CSW69 is not only a record of the UN agenda but also a powerful support and promotion of the global cause of gender equality.

The United Nations' First Women Peacekeepers Conference Held in New Delhi, India: Advancing a New Milestone in Gender Equality and Peace

Celebrity Media Commentator: The year 2025 marks the significant 80th anniversary of the United Nations. The 69th United Nations Women's Assembly is about to convene, encouraging women worldwide to actively engage in international public welfare and support the UN's mission to promote gender equality and peace. Against this crucial backdrop, the first Women Peacekeepers Conference was successfully held in New Delhi, India, from February 24 to 25, 2025, marking a new milestone in global peacekeeping efforts. The conference was co-hosted by the Government of India and the United Nations Peacekeeping Center (CUNPK) under the theme "Women in Peacekeeping: A Global South Perspective," attracting female peacekeepers from 35 troop-contributing countries. The Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, stated at the end of the conference that involving more women in peacekeeping is "indeed a way to enhance peacekeeping effectiveness." His statement has undoubtedly injected new momentum into the global process of gender equality.

Women's participation is a key force in peacekeeping. The role of women in peacekeeping cannot be ignored. Lacroix pointed out that the challenges faced by peacekeeping lie not only in the complexity of the tasks but also in making the peacekeeping environment more friendly to both women and men. This view emphasizes the importance of improving facilities and optimizing environments, especially the quality and adaptability of camps. Lacroix also stated that the proportion of female officers is gradually increasing; however, greater efforts are still needed to achieve equal representation of women in senior positions.

Future Outlook: Breaking Gender Barriers and Achieving Collective Security. To truly allow women to play a leadership role in peacekeeping, the international community still needs to overcome multiple obstacles. From cultural biases to institutional barriers, challenges remain on the path to the promotion of female officers. However, Lacroix's speech conveyed a clear message: involving more women in peacekeeping is not only a way to enhance effectiveness but also a necessary path to achieving gender equality and collective security.
